Hispanic Counseling Center Receives Grant from Genesis Foundation

Hempstead, NY— June 2008- Hispanic Counseling Center (HCC), Long Island’s premier specialty agency providing comprehensive professional services for Latino families, has received a $20,000 grant from Genesis Foundation. The grant will support the agency’s School Age Child Care (SACC) and After School Tutoring Program, and the Parent Education Training (PET) initiative for the 2008-2009 school year. Funds received will allow the continuation of these vital programs for children and parents. Children in the program receive tutoring, acculturation, socialization, recreational and enrichment, while parents participate in parenting skills workshops that educate and empower them to become their child’s principal advocate, and to provide the proper support to ensure their child’s academic success. Together, these programs create a Circle of Learning for children and parents, empowering families to succeed and improve their lives.

HCC is very proud and grateful to be the first organization on long island to receive a grant from Genesis Foundation.

Hispanic Counseling Center is a multi-service agency headquartered in Hempstead, Nassau County, NY, with a satellite office in Bay Shore, Suffolk County NY, providing fully bilingual treatment and prevention and support services to more than 1,200 clients per month for chemical dependency, mental health, and many youth and family services. It is the only agency in Nassau County licensed by the State of New York to provide these services in an entirely bilingual, bicultural setting and in an environment of hope and encouragement for people working toward a constructive, self-sustaining way of life.
