Hispanic Counseling Center Receives Grant From State Assemblywoman Earlene Hooper

Hempstead, NY— June 2008- Hispanic Counseling Center (HCC), Long Island’s premier specialty agency providing comprehensive professional services for Latino families, has received a $10,000 grant secured by State Assemblywoman Earlene Hooper in support of the agency’s Teen Drop-in Center. The Teen Drop-in Center provides at-risk youth ages 13-18 with a safe, supervised haven for recreation and learning during the critical after-school and early evening hours, providing an antidote to, and prevention program for, gang involvement and risky behaviors by at-risk teens.

Hispanic Counseling Center is a multi-service agency headquartered in Hempstead, Nassau County, NY, with a satellite office in Bay Shore, Suffolk County NY, providing fully bilingual treatment and prevention and support services to more than 1,200 clients per month for chemical dependency, mental health, and many youth and family services. It is the only agency in Nassau County licensed by the State of New York to provide these services in an entirely bilingual, bicultural setting and in an environment of hope and encouragement for people working toward a constructive, self-sustaining way of life.
