State Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos Secures Grant to Support Hispanic Counseling Center
Hempstead, NY— June 2008- Hispanic Counseling Center (HCC), Long Island’s premier specialty agency providing comprehensive professional services for Latino families, is grateful to be the recipient of a $50,000 grant secured by State Senator Dean Skelos which will support the agency’s Mental Health Outpatient Clinic.
These funds will allow the agency to continue to provide comprehensive Mental Health Outpatient Treatment services to needy Latino families, the majority of which are very low-income, recently arrived immigrants who turn to Hispanic Counseling Center to receive our expert care in a supportive bilingual environment that attends to their needs, with caring and sensitivity to their culture and values.
Hispanic Counseling Center is a multi-service agency headquartered in Hempstead, Nassau County, NY, with a satellite office in Bay Shore, Suffolk County NY, providing fully bilingual treatment and prevention and support services to more than 1,200 clients per month for chemical dependency, mental health, and many youth and family services. It is the only agency in Nassau County licensed by the State of New York to provide these services in an entirely bilingual, bicultural setting and in an environment of hope and encouragement for people working toward a constructive, self-sustaining way of life.
