“Salutation”

I am writing for the Hispanic center,
Trying to define so much kindness,
For so many that come to it every day,
Seeking comfort, seeking peace,
Trying to find the truth in their lives.
Like the bird looking warmth
It was thus that I came to the Hispanic Center;
I was rudderless and distracted,
But I was welcomed and understood.
It is like a sanctuary for me,
Where I discovered my own reality.
I, like many, had lost my mind,
But those angels that God put there
Helped me understand my illness.
It is not a sanctuary of prayer.
It’s not one of many churches.
It is the place to clean your mind and spirit,
Where you forget your burdens and obstacles;
Everything is perfectly organized,
But it’s not a military bastion.
It is God hidden in the presence of the ladies and gentlemen
That are ready to help.
My gratitude is immeasurable,
For having so understood me.
I am a new person with a new outlook.
I love life, and there is kindness in me
Ah!
And now there are no more tears.
I sing instead.
