SAFE (Safe Alternatives for Family Enrichment) Program
The SAFE Program provides support for families and children that are at risk of placement in the child welfare system, and assists with the family reunification process for youth and families already involved in the system. Youth and their families are provided with services during non-school hours in order to improve family functioning, increase student academic success, and prevent child abuse and neglect. Children can utilize the agency’s after-school program and summer program for tutoring, homework help, recreation, prevention workshops, and educational trips. Parenting skills classes and workshops are offered to parents. Critical services for these families include: case management, home visits, family mediation, child care, psychosocial assessments, child care, and coordination of services, information and referrals. The SAFE Program is funded through a grant from the New York State Office of Children & Family Services.
