Testimonials
“I love the fact that I can rely on care coordination support services. Care coordination at the Hispanic counseling center has helped me by getting educational information on health and wellness resources and access to community programs. I feel relief to know that I can Secure Food, Medicaid transportation and not miss my medical appointments. I can also call any time and find assistance with public assistance applications. A person with language barriers can find comfort in care coordination. Thank you HCC- Care Coordination Program.”
“My life has really changed. I now see things from a different perspective. In the DV group each case is different, but we all have the same problem. I looked forward to the weekly sessions because it gave me the opportunity to share my situation with the members of the group and find solutions to the problems that I, and the other members of the group, were experiencing.”
“Being a client at HCC has transcended the conventional therapist-client dynamic; it has become a relationship where I not only receive valuable support but also actively incorporate the lessons learned into my own life. Overall, my three-year journey with HCC has been a learning experience that I continue to go on. I recommend the Hispanic Counseling Center to all my loved ones and everyone, we all need therapy. Break the stigma. Seeking help for yourself is a tremendous act of self-love for one. As I continue this therapeutic journey, I am grateful for the support, growth, and resilience it has instilled in me, fostering a new and empowering sense of well-being.”
“This program has helped me to be a better person. Before, I was always hanging out with the wrong crowd, and now I like going to school and the after school program at Hispanic Counseling Center.”
“Good afternoon, I want to share my testimony to help people who are not aware of this program. The Regional Supportive Services Initiative is a program that helped me when I needed it most; the staff helped me with food and clothing for my children, helped me understand the importance of getting tested and helped me with PrEP, which are pills to avoid diseases.”
“I am very grateful because they have always been with me when I need advice or have questions. The community health worker is one of the best people I know. Its good to know we have their help because sometimes we need help and there are so few and limited resources.”
“The Ryan White program has made a great impact on my life because in it I have been able to improve my quality of life because I have received the support that I could not receive elsewhere. And for that I thank you. I have received therapy benefits, they have provided me with a therapist who I am currently seeing in person for individual and group sessions. Also through the Ryan White program I have been able to receive medical help that provides me with the medications I need and my follow-up appointments. For me, this program means great support for me and for the Hispanic community who are going through a very difficult situation for not having legal status in this country and having a very complex medical condition. This affected population is a very vulnerable community that needs a lot of support in all areas of our lives. Thank you.”
“The Hispanic Counseling Center has been such an incredible support system for my residents here at FCA’s runaway and homeless youth programs. Alejandra and Andrea always reach out to see if any residents need support and it is so greatly appreciated. A number of residents have participated in Skills for Psychological Recovery and Psychological First Aid and it has helped them gain the tools they need to cope with difficult emotions. We also have a resident who has enrolled in therapy and psychiatry at HCC and she enjoys having the support from professionals who understand her language and her cultural background. The residents speak so highly of the team at HCC and they are always looking forward to meetings. “Thank you” simply isn’t enough to express how appreciated you guys are. You are all amazing!”
“I do not have enough words to all the program staff, but just ‘appreciation’. It was very difficult at the beginning of the program because I did not want to be aware of my ‘problem’, and also because I was very ashamed about what other people would think about me. But I can say right now that entering this SUD program is one of the most beautiful things that has happened in my life. I just would like to say thank you to all the SUD staff.”
“My daughter has been going to Hispanic Counseling Center now for almost six years and I can honestly say it is by far the best summer camp ever!! They are extremely attentive, caring and most of all informative. When I tell you that they attend to every need you have that’s just an understatement because they do so much more. The counselors treat each and every student as a whole. They involve everyone in the daily activities and as the paranoid parent that I am when they take them on trips they are treated as their own. Safety is a major priority for them. Ms. Janet is just an amazing human being. She treats my daughter as her own, and not just mine, the entire camp at that! Trips are fun, activities keep them busy and it’s the best money you can ever spend knowing it’s all going towards your child having the best summer ever. I can tell you firsthand, I look forward to when camp is about to start, and I’m dreading when it’s just about ending asking to put me on the list for the upcoming year. That’s how much fun my daughter has. I highly recommend the camp!!!!”
“My name is Javier Gutiérrez. I am very grateful for the afternoon program. I have been coming frequently. The videos and classes are helping me learn English. I also want to thank my teachers because with their support I have been able to pass my classes. Thank you.”
“From the parenting program I’ve learned how to analyze situations and think before reacting in a way that could have negative consequences. I also learned much from the experiences and the ideas of the other clients in the group. When I heard about their problems, I realized that my situation wasn’t as difficult and complicated as what they were facing. This gave me a sense of perspective. The parenting program helped me to be more human, more understanding of others.”
“The COMHPS program has had a positive impact on my life. I was a victim of a hate crime, which led to panic attacks and a profound sense of distrust towards those around me. However, thanks to the support of COMHPS program counselors, I have regained my self-confidence, opened up to socializing, and reintegrated into the community in a positive manner. Consequently, I feel relaxed, motivated to succeed, and confident that nothing can hinder me from achieving my goals. To me, the COMHPS program signifies support, trust, and love.”
“The respite program has been there for my family during our toughest times. They consistently provide us with donations of food, clothes, and even furniture when we need them. My children are always thrilled to attend the group because it’s their chance to have fun, and I can also have some personal time.”
“I’m now a happier person thanks to the Hispanic Counseling Center. I used to live in a shelter, I was depressed all the time, and hardly had any family contact, and my life was a mess. But having my own apartment has literally changed my life. I love my apartment, and most of all, my daughters can now visit me and bring my grandchildren to visit! I was not able to do that in a shelter.”
