The Reason
The COMHPS Program aims to support New Yorkers with subclinical mental health needs and establish, maintain, and improve individual and community mental health and wellness.
The Solution
The COMHPS program engages with the community to provide mental health education and support, brief counseling, support groups, organized recreational activities that promote wellness, links and referrals to community resources and other qualified health professionals.
The Implementation
The COMHPS program offers the community increased awareness about mental health issues, reducing stigma and encouraging open discussions about mental well-being. In addition, the program offers access to resources such as counseling and support groups helping individuals navigate their mental health challenges. More importantly, the program contributes to creating a supportive, resilient, and thriving community.

Testimonial
“The COMHPS program has had a positive impact on my life. I was a victim of a hate crime, which led to panic attacks and a profound sense of distrust towards those around me. However, thanks to the support of COMHPS program counselors, I have regained my self-confidence, opened up to socializing, and reintegrated into the community in a positive manner. Consequently, I feel relaxed, motivated to succeed, and confident that nothing can hinder me from achieving my goals. To me, the COMHPS program signifies support, trust, and love.”
