The Mental Health Program has an opening for a full-time social worker to provide behavioral health services in an outpatient setting in Nassau County. Candidate must be bilingual in English and Spanish. Must have valid license in New York State as LMSW, LCSW, or LMHC. Experience in clinical social work preferred. Worker will provide individual, group and family therapy in a multicultural context. Position includes medical benefits, paid vacation and sick days.

The Part-Time Adult ESL/Literacy Teacher will provide instruction and develop lesson plans considering each student’s needs to ensure they acquire English language speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills that will enable parents of Hempstead High School speak confidently on their child’s behalf within the school system. Part-Time High School Literacy Teacher Aide

The Part-Time High School Literacy Teacher Aide will assist the lead High School Literacy Teacher in providing instruction and developing lesson plans considering each student’s needs to ensure they acquire English language reading and writing skills while incorporating their skills with appropriate content level reading material. The Literacy teacher aide will also assist in providing small group activities, administering pre and post assessments, and tracking each student’s progress as well as attendance.

Part-Time Bilingual (English/Spanish) High School Math Teacher Aide

The Part-Time Bilingual (English/Spanish) High School Math Teacher Aide will work along lead High School Math Teacher to deepen the student’s mastery of mathematics as well as teach math vocabulary in English/Spanish which will also be reinforced by the ESL teacher for students in grades 9-12. The High School Math Teacher Aide will be responsible in substituting the lead math teacher when absent or sick and will assist the lead teacher in taking attendance and providing math instruction to high school students.

Part-Time Student Support Counselor Position

The Part-time Student Counselor will be responsible for providing after-school support groups to Hempstead High School students who recently immigrated to the U.S. The student counselor will discuss with the students their acculturation process, understand their school problems or concerns, engage them in the education system; cultivate their career aspirations and high school graduation as well as help them build healthy alliances at school and healthy coping mechanisms. In addition, the student counselor will maintain student attendance and remind the students to attend their sessions.

Bilingual Domestic Violence Counselor

Hispanic Counseling Center is currently seeking a highly motivated/dedicated Bilingual (English/Spanish) Domestic Violence Program Counselor to join our multidisciplinary treatment team.  The Counselor will complete screenings, conduct intakes and psycho-education groups using the Duluth Model as well as individual sessions as needed. Must meet deadlines for all documentation and paperwork requirements.

Bachelor’s degree is required. Experience working with this population is preferred.

Bilingual Substance Abuse Clinician

Hispanic Counseling Center is currently seeking a highly motivated/dedicated Bilingual   (English/Spanish) Clinician to join our multidisciplinary clinical  treatment team in the chemical dependency program.  The Clinician will conduct individual and group therapy, psycho-education groups, assessments, diagnosis, and treatment plans for our chemical dependency clients. Must meet deadlines for all documentation  and paperwork requirements.

CASAC Credential is required. Substance/Alcohol Abuse & Mental Health and experience working with multicultural populations is preferred. Familiarity with NYS/OASAS 822 and Medicaid Regulations is helpful.
